With only four simple ingredients, you can make delicious Valentine’s Day Chocolate Heart Candy! They are very easy to create and make a beautiful gift.
Create a double boiler by putting some water in a medium-size pan and placing a mixing bowl on top of the pan (it should be big enough to touch the water slightly). Turn on the stove and warm up the water; make sure it doesn’t start boiling. Next, put the Chocolate into the mixing bowl and slowly melt it, stirring occasionally. It’s crucial that no water, not even a tiny drop, gets into the chocolate, or the chocolate will become hard and lumpy - in short: unusable!
In a medium-size mixing bowl, beat the butter until soft and lighter in color with a hand or stand mixer.
Add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder to the butter and mix until well combined.
Pour the melted chocolate into the butter-sugar mixture and beat until well incorporated.
Take the Heart molds and, with your hands, firmly press the chocolate filling in it to have it flush with the mold.
Refrigerate the mold for a couple of hours.
Melt the Dipping Chocolate in the microwave on the defrost or low power setting or in a double boiler.
Take the hearts out of the molds.
Take one heart at a time and dip it in the chocolate. I used a fork to take it back out of the chocolate. Once you have the chocolate-covered heart sitting on your fork, you want to get the excess chocolate off by tapping the fork on the side of the bowl. The chocolate will drip down the sides of the heart. Once it stops dripping, place the heart on parchment paper and add sprinkles or other decorations. Make sure you add the decorations before the chocolate has firmed up to make them stick well to the candy.
Notes
You can store them in a cookie tin at room temperature or in the refrigerator.
